"Giving Thanks for Food & Family" The Little Red Hen is a fantastic folk tale to study in the fall. There are so many different parts of the story that are relevant to our Preschool Classroom. After each new version that I read I asked the children again if they would share with their friends, if their friends did not do their fair share of the work. It was very interesting to see how their opinions changed with each different version. It became a great conversation starter when dealing with classroom conflicts. And of course, almost each child had their favorite version. Here is a list of the versions that we read.

We also learned a lot about wheat. How wheat grows and how it is harvested. The children even got some practical experience cutting and threshing the wheat.
