The Winter season has become an integral part of our curriculum. We have explored many different winter stories including Snowmen at Night. The Kindergarten children worked on sentence structure and inventive spelling while thinking about what their snowmen might do at night. We have explored symmetry and patterns while creating mittens and scarves based on the story The Mitten Tree. Extended Day children are exploring the habits of New England animals during the winter season. Do animals hibernate, migrate or adapt based on the story Over and Under the Snow.
Since there is no snow outside to play with we brought the snow inside! Bonus we had lots of chances to work on our popcorn words!!!! We wrote our popcorn words in shaving cream. We had a snowball fight inside with paper snowballs. Each snowball had a popcorn word written inside.
